Julie's Wish

We are doing  sneak peaks of the Fairies & Adventurers New Release on the High Hopes blog this week.

The full release will be available tomorrow!  Fairies and sentiments and outdoor fun - oh my!

My post today features Julie's Wish and a sentiment from the  Sentiment #1 set.

It is truly amazing but I didn't have a patterned paper that fit the light, whimsical, magical feel I wanted for this card. So.....out came the ink pads and a sponge and away I went. It is the first time I have attempted to do a sponged background and I'm quite happy with it - for my first time.

I sponged the Spellbinders die cut in the background and stamped the sentiment with Memento Rose Bud.

Julie is stamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured with Spectrum Noir Markers (list below), fussy cut and popped up with pop dots.

Welcome Little One

When I first saw this stamp my first thought was a Mother's Love......

This stamp is called Snuggles and Cuddles from the Spring Is In the Air release at High Hopes.

I thought about doing my card as a Mother's Day Card but chose instead to make it a baby card. I don't have anyone in my life at the moment who is having a baby but you never know when things can change.

Rough Day?

I'm not a golfer. I will be honest, I went to the driving range once and only once with my husband.......and let's just say I'm not a golfer.

One of the golf terms I hear often when some of my family has been out golfing is that their ball went "into the rough" meaning it is in the trees or tall grass or both. Either way..........the ball did not end up on the green.

Personally, I think I would be in the rough the whole time....kinda like Golfer Glen from High Hopes Stamps is on this card.

Yes, my dry sense of humour is apparent on this one tee hee...

I kept the layout simple so the focus is on Golfer Glen and his rather bad day of golfing and my "play on words".

I embossed the trees on cardstock and then cut out where the sky would be and put some cloud paper behind it so you can see it through the trees.
Glen's sexy striped pants are paper pieced and he is fussy cut and popped up with pop dots.
The grass was glued on in the background and then a couple pieces on the front to make it look like he is surrounded.

Friends Are Magic

Today is a beautiful, sunny 14 degree day but things are still too wet for me to do anything outside that needs to be done...sigh...........

I am taking advantage of this time to make a card for a fundraiser I have an order for.

One of the requests was Christmas cards so although I feel like I just put my Christmas papers away a week ago, today I pulled them out again.

It is hard to see in the picture as it looks really blue/navy blue but the colours are actually turquoise - I can never get turquoise to photograph well! Sigh......

I kept the layout simple but now I have a problem...........

I'm really happy with how it turned out and I'm not sure I want to include it in my fundraiser cards! lol

Slidin' By

Thursday is my day to post some inspiration on the High Hopes blog.

My card today is featuring Hedgy Has Flowers from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

My god daughter loves Hedge Hogs so when I saw this stamp I knew I had to have it.

I coloured Hedgy with alcohol markers and then fussy cut it. I made this a slider card - even though my god daughter is turning 17 she still as a bit of "little girl" in her.........but don't we all?

Dropping By

Well Spring has finally arrived! I went to walk my dog at 5:40 a.m. this morning - heavy sweater and winter coat on, opened the garage door and was hit full on by warm, moist, humidity filled air!

After taking a few layers off, I enjoyed a nice walk, albeit in the pitch black dark. It was nice to enjoy a +15 degree morning after such a brutally cold winter.

Inspired by warmth and sun and thoughts of summer fun, I put together the card below using Waddles - isn't he the cutest, happiest penguin you have ever seen?

I coloured him and the sky with alcohol markers. I wasn't happy with my clouds so I filled them in with cotton balls to make some puffy clouds. Honestly I didn't want to start over with the colouring so I tried to find an appropriate "fix".

Patterned Paper: Summer Words - Carta Bella

My Pony

It's Thursday! and my turn to post on the High Hopes blog.

My post today features My Pony from the Spring Is In The Air March Release.

This stamp can be used for some many occasions and who doesn't know a horse lover - big or small - who would love this cutie!

I stepped out of my colour comfort zone with this one. My go to colours for "horsey" cards tend to be the neutrals (brown, green, tan etc) but I wanted to try something different.

The inspiration for this paper colour combination came from the "New Release" cover photo on the High Hopes Facebook page.
